Juneteenth 2025 – Commemoration at The Myers Residence

  • The Stephen and Harriet Myers Residence 194 Livingston Avenue Albany, NY, 12210 United States (map)

“Juneteenth is a time for reflection, education, and celebration,” says Paul Stewart, Co-Founder  of Underground Railroad Education Center. “We invite the community to join us in honoring this important moment in history with a day filled with meaningful activities and inspiring performances.”

Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States, marking a significant chapter in our nation’s history. Specifically the emancipation of roughly 250,000 still enslaved in Galveston Bay, Texas in June 19, 1865. UREC is dedicated to preserving and sharing the legacy of the Underground Railroad and the fight for freedom and equality. The Underground Railroad Education Center researches and preserves the local and national history of the Underground Railroad movement, its international connections, and its legacy to today’s social justice issues.

This event is free and open to the public. Join with us as we remember the importance of Juneteenth and continue to strive for justice and equality for all.
